Gwyn (Jocko) Thomas, 96: Legendary crime reporter

The Toronto Star, home to Jocko Thomas for so many decades, has reported his death tonight (link on headline). Thomas was truly one of the most extraordinary figures in local newspapering. He was a friend even to competitors while competing with them fiercely. And he was a zealot for the facts. He was a man of the old school even as things around him changed profoundly. He prevailed wonderfully at keeping his writing and reporting values alive. TPG
