Chinese. newspaper flouts Tiananmen ban with cartoon

A Chinese newspaper has defied a ban on any mention of the Tiananmen Square massacre by publishing a cartoon that shows a boy's drawing on a blackboard of a row of tanks moving towards a solitary figure -- one of the event's most symbolic moments. The bold move by Southern Metropolis Daily comes on the eve of the 21st anniversary of the events of June 4, 1989, when tanks and troops were used to crush pro-democracy demonstrations. The Communist Party is so vigilant in enforcing the ban that many young Chinese have never heard of it.
