HBO Renews 'True Blood,' 'The Newsroom'

HBO has renewed the Aaron Sorkin drama The Newsroom for a second season, while their smash vampire romp True Blood was also picked up for its sixth season.

The Newsroom is currently just a handful of episodes into its first season, and though it received mixed reviews from critics, it has been among HBO's top programs since it premiered on June 23rd. The drama stars Jeff Daniels as a jaded cable news anchor who attempts to change things with his producer/ex-girlfriend (Emily Mortimer) following a "mad as hell and I'm not gonna take it"-like moment.
HBO did not release any information involving possible air dates or changes for the new season.
