Toronto police return negatives from 2000 riot

Interesting yarn here from the Star about how photo and negatives from a riot 12 years ago have been returned to the Star by the Toronto Police. The story, by Jim Rankin, notes that the pictures were taken with expensive 35mm film cameras by the legendary Boris Spremo, now retired. The story goes on to ponder the present digital world of picture taking and the everyman-with-a-camera state of affairs. It has changed the way police go about seeking pictures of criminal and civil events. Now they have a much wider choice of pictures from which to choose, quite often taken by ordinary people who actually witnessed events. That's better than Johnny Come Lately reporters and photographers. Toronto Star.
